Employment Tips
Common interview mistakes can mean the difference between landing the job or
losing it.
Make sure you are well prepared for your interview, a little homework on your
part will show through when it really counts.
Do:
- Research the organisation and its industry, the internet is an invaluable
and convenient tool now so make sure you take advantage of it. Newspapers and
annual reports are also available to the public.
- Prepare answers to standard questions
- Have a few questions to fire back at the interviewer, this shows the interviewer
you are interested in the company and that you have done your homework
- Dress appropriately
- Make sure your resume is up to date
- Check your transport arrangements will get you there on time
Don't:
- Arrive late for the interview, make sure you will get there early
- Criticise your current or previous employers or work collegues
- Be disrespectful to the interviewer
- Leave without finding out when you will hear from them again
